The first automotive exhibition hosted by GAIKINDO, Pameran Mobil GAIKINDO was established in 1986 and was the beginning of Indonesia’s largest automotive exhibition. In 2006, the exhibition reached a new platform by becoming an international-scale exhibition endorsed by OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles) and changed its name to Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). Along with the fantastic more than 30 years of journey, this year we will drive the show towards a brighter future and launch the show with a new name GAIKINDO Indonesia International AUTO SHOW (GIIAS).

1980
In 1986, the first automotive exhibition hosted by GAIKINDO was launched under the name of GAIKINDO Car Exhibition (Pameran Mobil GAIKINDO) and participated by 13 GAIKINDO members.
1990
After being postponed for two years due to the government tight money policy, Jakarta Auto Expo was held again in 1996.The exhibition reached a record breaking achievement compared to the previous years, and was attended by more than 200.000 visitors.


2000 – 2003
In 2000, Jakarta Auto Expo changed its name to Gaikindo Auto Expo after being postponed for 3 years, due to monetary crisis that occurs in South East Asia. In 2003, The 12th Gaikindo Auto Expo was held on 19 – 27 July 2003, participated by 150 automotive related companies, and covered 35.000 sqm of Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
2004 – 2008
In 2006, the exhibition was listed as part of the world’s automotive exhibition schedule, endorsed by OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles), and changed its name to Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). In 2008, the exhibition covered the whole area of Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), both the indoor and outdoor area.


2009 – 2014
In an attempt to grow bigger, the exhibition moved to a larger venue: Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran in 2009, which covered approximately 60.000 sqm of exhibition area. Furthermore, after receiving remarkable success on the previous year, the exhibition utilized more than 80.000 sqm extensive area.
2015
A new chapter of GAIKINDO’s automotive exhibition begins under a new name of GAIKINDO Indonesia International AUTO SHOW (GIIAS), and set itself as the largest auto show in Southeast Asia. The exhibition was launched on June 20 to August 30, 2015 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD). A total of 34 car / vehicle brands from 23 Agent licensee (APM) and 2 public passenger vehicle importers participate in the expo.
As part of the GIIAS series, GIIAS Makassar Auto Show (South Sulawesi) and GIIAS Surabaya Auto Show (East Java) was held in 2015 and recorded more than 500,000 visitors. Booth exhibitions contributed up to IDR 6.3 trillion to the Indonesian Automotive industry.


2016
GIIAS 2016 took place on 11 to 21 August 2016 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD City, Tangerang. In the second year of its establishment, GIIAS focused to bring Indonesia’s automotive exhibition to the world’s stage. GIIAS 2016 received full endorsement from the international organization that oversees the global automotive industry, namely OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles). Under the support of OICA, GIIAS has become one of the series of world-class international auto shows like NAIAS Detroit Auto Show, IAA Frankfurt Auto Show, Geneva Motor Show, Auto China Beijing, Tokyo Motor Show and several other exhibitions
2017
Took place on 10 to 20 August 2017 at ICE BSD, it is the 25th automotive exhibition held by GAIKINDO. This year GIIAS is focusing in delivering new technology from global automotive industry for the Indonesian public, while at the same time GIIAS is showcasing the development from Indonesian automotive industry for the world to see. In 2017 GIIAS hosted 47 launches, including world premieres from 3 brands, passenger cars, commercial vehicles and also concept cars. With it, GIIAS has establish its world-class auto show status.


2018
GIIAS 2018 has successfully transfer ideas and inspiration to more than 450.000 visitors, through innovation presented in 47 new and concept vehicles, amongst it is a world premiere car. A total of 9 new motorcycle and concept motorcycle are also presented during GIIAS 2018. Officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia also highlighted #GIIAS2018
2019
Embracing “Future in Motion” as its theme, the new concept of GIIAS in 2019 was presented trough 41 launches of new and concept vehicles, one of it was a world premiere of concept car, a vision of the future trough automotive technology. 8 new motorcycle models were also introduced at GIIAS 2019. As a comprehensive automotive show, the event was also participated by more than 300 brands, including the supporting industries. Capturing more than 470.000 visitors’ interest, the atmosphere of technology presented at GIIAS 2019 were also presented in three other cities where GIIAS The Series were held, Surabaya, Makassar and Medan. #GIIAS2019


2021
Held successfully in 2021, The 28th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) remained as a prestigious runway for debus and vehicle launches. Leading players across the automotive industry showcased its latest technologies and the next generation of vehicles.
Alongside with the offline exhibition, GIIAS also introduced its digital platform AUTO360 apps, which is designed as a complete hub for automotive solutions and to create new ways to expand customer reach.
Due to the global pandemic, GIIAS 2021 has been conducted in accordance with the health guidelines and under strict health protocols.
2022
Carrying out the theme “The Future is Bright” GIIAS 2022 reflected the bright future of the Indonesian automotive industry.
Hosted a total of 41 new vehicle launches as well as concept vehicles Ensuring GIIAS as the prominent and prestigious runway for debuts and vehicle launches, as an exhibition that provides information and education on the latest automotive products and technologies to the people of Indonesia.
GIIAS 2022 hosted a special program, an Indoor EV Test Drive area of approximately 5,000 square meters, and it successfully attracted more than 10,000 eager visitors.
Attended by 385,487 visitors GIIAS 2022 took place successfully on 11-21 August 2022.


2023
GIIAS 2023: A Leap into the Future
Carrying the theme “Future Now,” GIIAS 2023 represented a significant leap forward for the automotive industry by bringing together prestigious car brands from around the globe. The event showcased 44 new vehicle launches, including two world premieres, while also offering extensive insights and education on the latest advancements in automotive technology to the public.
A noteworthy feature was the exclusive EV Test Drive area, which featured a water obstacle challenge, enabling over 17,000 visitors to experience the dependability of electric vehicles up close. Throughout the eleven days of the event, from August 10 to August 20, 2023, GIIAS 2023 attracted an impressive total of 462,291 attendees.
2024
GIIAS 2024: A Remarkable Transformation
GIIAS 2024 has undergone a significant upgrade, expanding its total exhibition area to an impressive 120,000 square meters. It stands as the world’s second-largest automotive exhibition outside of China. This year’s event showcased over 55 global automotive brands, featuring a diverse range of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles, alongside more than 120 brands from supporting industries.
Under the captivating theme “Innovation Meets Inspiration,” the exhibition drew 475,084 visitors during its successful run from July 18 to 28, 2024. GIIAS 2024 hosted more than 40 new vehicle launches. The event recorded over 18,000 test drive sessions. These impressive figures reflect the overwhelming enthusiasm of the public for the latest automotive models.


2025
GIIAS 2025: The Most Anticipated Automotive Exhibition
Celebrating its 32nd edition, GIIAS 2025 marked a remarkable achievement as the largest and most comprehensive automotive exhibition in the world, covering over 120,000 square meters. With the theme “Empowering the Future,” the event showcased more than 60 international brands, including those in passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles, along with over 120 supporting industries that highlighted the latest innovations.
The exhibition set a new attendance record, drawing in 485,569 visitors during its successful run from July 24 to August 3, 2025. Attendees were treated to the unveiling of over 55 new vehicle models, and nearly 20,000 test drive experiences were recorded, demonstrating the public’s excitement to engage with the newest advancements in the automotive industry.
